Department of Land Management and Cadastre
Organization of highly efficient use of land was, is and will always be an important issue for the state, landowners and land users. Enforcement of such an important task was the basis for the formation of land administration systems where Land Management and Land Cadastre occupies a very important part.
Actually, due to this fact the Department of Land Management and Cadastre was organized as a structural unit of The Faculty of Geography of Uzhhorod National University (Order of 25.10.2005 №1998-year L). The Founder and first head of the department- Volodymyr Kichura – Ph.D in Agricultural sciences; since 2009 the department is headed by Assoc. Ivan Kalynych.
Due to the results of the State Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine,held in 2010, the specialty "Land Management and Cadastre" was accredited by the fourth level and has the right to conduct T & E activities and train bachelor’s and master's degrees.
The department trains bachelors, masters and specialists – land managers. All of its activities are aimed at the need to educate qualified specialists with higher education for staffing priority sectors of the economy in our region.
Educational, scientific and supervising activities are provided by highly qualified teaching staff: 2 professors, 4 associate professors, PhDs, 5 senior teachers, 4 teachers, the Head of Laboratory, Senior Specialist, Engineer of the department, senior laboratory assistant and laboratory assistant.
Graduates of the department are now successfully working on the implementation of land reform in Transcarpathia, performing work on the legal registration of the land title of people, issuance of title documents and registration of land rights, thus providing firm guarantees of land ownership. Land management specialists carry out work in accounting and monetary value of land and property, the drawing up of projects of land privatization, splitting them into average land shares (stocks), the formation of new agricultural enterprises in the private-rental basis and manage their territories.
In recent years, the scope of activities has expanded significantly, especially in cities where there is an active privatization of land and real estate.
Today the Department of Land Management and Cadastre - is an important unit of the Faculty of Geography of the University. There are 128 daytime students and 38 extra-mural students. For graduates of I- II levels of accreditation a training period is shorter. The Department together with the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Pre-University Training organized a shorter training program; 17 persons with higher education in agriculture and working in the State Committee of Ukraine are educated.
58 specialists and 28 masters have graduated from the department (1 July 2013). Graduates of the department successfully solve the problems of production and work in different areas of the national economy of the region and actively participate in the political life of the region and the state as a whole.
To prepare professionals – due to the curriculum - professional program contains 35 fundamental subjects, including: Advanced Mathematics, Mathematical Methods and Models, Geodesy, Advanced Geodesy, Land Law, Mathematical Processing of Geodetic Measurements, GIS and Database Basics of Land and Cadastre Satellite Surveying, Digital Mapping, Agricultural Landscapes Organization of Territory etc. and 30 special courses, such as: Topography, Land Management Drawings, Land Planning, Land Cadastre, Surveying work in land surveying, Engineering Surveying, Planning of villages, Designing of local roads, PRP of Transcarpathia, Hydrotechnical Melioration, Fundamentals of Geographic Information Systems, Evaluation of Land and Immovable Property, Modern Methods of Processing Engineering - Surveying works and etc.
