The Council and the Board of International UzhNU Alumni Association summarized the results of the work done in 2018

On Friday, January 4, 2019, an extended meeting of the Council and the Board of the International UzhNU Alumni Association took place in the meeting room of the Academic Council of UzhNU. The goal of the meeting was to summarize the results of the work done by the Association in 2018. It was attented by the members of the Committee of the Wise, the members of the Council and the Board of the Association, vice-rectors, deans, and well-known alumni of UzhNU.

 The meeting was opened by the President of the Association, the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka, who congratulated all those present on New Year and Christmas holidays. "I’m pleased to report that this year our Association has opened its units in different countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, the United States and Australia. Our alumni live and work in these countries making a huge contribution to the development of science and are ready to solve complex tasks," said Volodymyr Smolanka. He also told the audience about the achievements of the university, in particular about international cooperation, participation in important scientific research and academic mobility programmes, which made UzhNU more attractive to university entrants. He also mentioned that the financial position of the university was stable, which made it possible to purchase equipment for research for the first time in 30 years. At present, UzhNU is probably the only university in Ukraine which can afford buying devices designed specifically for scientific research.

Professor Oleksandr Slyvka, the chairperson of the Board, said: "The purpose of our work is to unite the university team and the alumni of different generations to strengthen the image of the university. We will soon celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the founding of the association and the main result of our work in 2018 is the implementation of our plans and ideas. The association is truly international, we have set up our units in such countries as Japan, Canada and Israel, and in many districts of the Transcarpathian region. We are planning to expand our association this year."

 The deputy chairperson of the Board, Ivan Artyomov, presented the second issue of the "Bulletin of the International UzhNU Alumni Association".

 The floor was also given the the member of the Committee of the Wise, Professor Ivan Myshko, who fruitfully worked at UzhNU for 60 years. Ivan Chavarha, Oksana Hanych, Dezyderiy Petnegazi, Mykhailo Povidaichyk, Halyna Shumytska, Nadiia Keretsman, and Valentyna Barchan also joined the discussion of last year’s achievements of the association.
