Meeting with Consul General of the Czech Republic in Lviv Pavel Pesek took place at UzhNU
The meeting was opened by the acting Rector Oleksandr Slyvka and Vice-rector for academic policy and research Myroslava Lendel. She introduced the newly appointed Consul General of the Czech Republic to teachers and students, noting that he had a degree in Czech philology and even taught the discipline at the university.
The head of the chair of Slovak philology, which hosts the department of Czech studies, Svitlana Pakhomova said: "For a long period Transcarpathians had to go to Lviv to study Czech, because it was possible to get a degree in Czech only there. Therefore, we decided to open the department of Czech studies at UzhNU. This year we already had the fourth graduation of students. Our teachers have extensive experience and a certain level of Slovak and have a great desire to improve the level of teaching Czech at our university. Currently, there is a great need for a lecturer from the Czech Republic."
Consul General of the Czech Republic in Lviv Pavel Pesek noted that it was very pleasant and important for him to visit UzhNU. "I am used to solving specific issues. Therefore, I can promise that I’ll do my best within my mandate and address the Czech government with the request to send a lecturer to UzhNU.
The topics of student exchange between Czech universities and UzhNU and assistance in obtaining visas for students who have iinvitations from Czech universities were also discussed at the meeting.
