Department of Information Science and Physics and Mathematics Disciplines
The Department of Computer Science, Physical and Mathematical Sciences operates from September 1, 1996. The first name of the department was "Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences". From September 1, 2005, in connection with the opening of new specialty in "Software Engineering", the department became the graduating department of educational qualification levels as Bachelor, Specialist and Master, thus it was renamed as "Department of Software of Automated Systems, Physical and Mathematical Disciplines". From October 17, 2011, in connection with the reorganization of the Faculty of Informatics, it was renamed as "Department of Informatics and Physical and Mathematical Sciences".
Throughout its existence the position of the head of the department was hold by:
- Buledza Andriy Vasylyovych - Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences , assistant professor, professor of the department (1.09.1996 – 31.12.1998);
- Laver Oleksandr Heorhiyovych - Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences , assistant professor, professor of the department (1.01.1999 – 7.01.2009);
- Vashchuk Fedir Hryhoriyovych - Doctor of Engineering Science , professor (8.01.2009 – 28.02.2014);
- Laver Oleksandr Heorhiyovych - Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences , assistant professor, professor of the department from 17.10.2011.
Scientific and research work
The research work of members of the department is related to a complex topic "Logical and algebraic methods of processing large amounts of information" (supervisors are: Doctor of Engineering, Professor F. G. Vashchuk and Vasylenko Yu. A). Throughout its existence academic staff published 5 monographs and about 150 scientific articles in national and international scientific journals. Teachers of the department successfully work on methodological support of disciplines. In particular, more than 20 educational, methodological and teaching manuals, which were prepared by the teachers of the department, received the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. There are 3 honored teachers among the teaching staff of the department. The department provides learning process as on Faculty of Information Technologies as on other faculties of the university.

The Department of Computer Science, Physical and Mathematical Sciences has extensive scientific ties with leading research organizations and higher education institutions of Ukraine as Institute of Mathematics of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National Technical University "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics, Institute of Electron Physics of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, University of Miskolc (Hungary), The Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (Slovakia), The Technical University of Košice, Institute of Physics of Slovak Academy of Sciences,
Institute of Nuclear Physics of Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Debrecen) and many other institutions.
