The Department of Information Control Systems and Technologies was established in 2000 by splitting the Department of Computer Science and Information Technologies into the Departments of Information Management Systems and Technologies and General Computer Science and Mathematical Modeling.

It is graduating department, thus plenty of degree (Master's) works (projects) are produced. The topics of qualified and diploma papers are of all kinds and adapted to scientific projects of the department and regional needs. The department has extensive scientific ties (some of them are confirmed by the respective cooperation agreements) with leading research organizations and higher education institutions of Ukraine, including V.M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", Uzhhorod Institute of Electron Physics of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kharkiv National University of Radioelectronics and other institutions.

The teachers of the department work on the scientific theme "Logical and algebraic methods of information processing". The results of this work over the last 6 years are represented in more than 60 works in professional and other publications. Students, post-graduate students and academic teaching stafff of the department take part in the process of publication.

There are also student’s scientific groups of hardware computer systems and sports programming.
